How it all started

A series of small, encouraging moments quietly set everything in motion. What started as a few words of motivation from family, friends and colleagues, gradually evolved into something far more meaningful. Out of that steady support, Beyond The Bend was born.

Founder’s Journey

In a world that often moves too fast, I was fortunate to inherit values rooted in stillness and devotion. Growing up in India, I was immersed in the timeless tradition of oral storytelling, a sacred flow of wisdom that has passed down through countless generations.

My earliest memories are filled with evenings spent listening to my grandfather’s vivid retellings of the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita. These stories didn’t just entertain me, they quietly planted the seeds of questioning, reflection, and a lifelong search for deeper meaning.

My upbringing was modest, shaped by hardworking parents whose lives were anchored in Bhakti, the yoga of devotion. Yet, even in an environment rich with ceremonies and tradition, I wrestled with the idea of blind worship. I questioned the need for idols and forms until life, experience, and time would reveal the deeper spirit behind the symbols.

In my early twenties, my search for deeper meaning grew more intense. I moved through countless spiritual practices, seeking something that would truly resonate with me. Each path offered a glimpse of understanding, a piece of a much larger puzzle.

I eventually found the teachings of Swami Chinmayananda, it was particularly his profound insights into the Bhagavad Gita, that eventually rooted me. Through his guidance, the once intangible ideas of yoga philosophy became a living, breathing reality in my own life.

Meanwhile, another journey was unfolding, one that tethered me to my body as much as my spirit. At 17, I was diagnosed with PCOS, a chronic hormonal condition that shadowed my health for more than a decade. I tried everything modern medicine could offer, but true healing remained elusive, until I found yoga. What began as a physical practice in my late twenties transformed my life. Yoga not only helped me manage but eventually heal my PCOS naturally, offering me freedom without reliance on medication.

When I later moved to London, another gap became clear: the authentic, soul-rooted yoga I grew up with was missing. Studios were abundant, but the essence, the spirit of yoga as a way of being, felt diluted. This realisation, combined with my own healing journey, inspired me to pursue formal training in yoga, including specialisation in menopause yoga and women’s health.

BeyondTheBend.yoga was born from this vision: to offer a space where ancient wisdom meets real-world healing, where philosophy and practice intertwine, and where women especially can reconnect with the natural cycles of their bodies and lives.

My journey has never been a straight line. It’s been a bend, a stretch, a return, over and over again. And that’s what yoga truly is: a journey beyond the bend.
